Welcome

Welcome to the Official Website of the Malaysia Process Control Society (MyPCS). Ever since its inception way back in 2013, MyPCS aims to establish itself as a platform for academicians, including postgraduates and undergraduates to have research collaboration and share any other possible research opportunities in process control, modeling and simulation. The creation of this website is hoped to spur further these activities, as well as a channel to keep all members updated on the current and future activities. It is also our hope that with the creation of this website would help the undergraduate students and public to know more and have a good understanding of the concept of process control and its application in day-to-day activities and industries. I hope that the collaborative expertise and sharing will pave the way for sterling accomplishments in process control research and applications in Malaysia. Together, we’ll carve a brighter future for MyPCS.

On behalf of the committee, I would like to welcome all of you to Malaysia Process Control Society!

Preamble

Following the successful organization of the first Process Control Virtual Symposium in December 2023, the Malaysia Process Control Society (MyPCS) has found that there is a need for a cost-effective virtual platform through which academicians and industrialists can have a stimulating exchange of ideas to advance research and education related to the process control discipline. As a sequel to the first PCVS, MyPCS is proud to organize the second PCVS, 4th – 5th September 2024 covering the following activities:

  • Process Control Education Workshop
  • Oral presentation
  • MATLAB project competition

Who should participate and benefits

The symposium encourages participation from the academia (e.g., researchers and lecturers) and industry (e.g., engineers and managers). The benefits for the participants include the following:

  • Best paper awards
  • Best MATLAB project awards (gold, silver, and bronze medals)
  • Keynote speakers from academia and industry

The registration (as a presenter or non-presenting audience) is complementary. The full papers will be published in the special issue (2024 edition) in the ASEAN Journal of Process Control (AJPC) after undergoing the peer-reviewed process.

Research Topics

The papers presented at the symposium will cover the following topics:

  • Process control education
  • Process modeling, control, and simulation
  • Process optimization and design
  • Machine learning
  • Fault tolerant and analysis
  • Digital twins
  • IoT in process control applications
  • Process systems: Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Wastewater
  • Other related process system engineering topics

Oral Presentation Guideline

The oral presentation duration is 15 minutes including 3 minutes for the Q&A. The paper presented covers the following types:

  • original research,
  • concept papers,
  • review papers,
  • industrial surveys, and
  • industrial-related problems.

MATLAB Project Guideline

The participation is open to graduate (Master/PhD) and undergraduate students as well as academic staff. The project submitted can be the work of an individual or a group consisting of two or more members.

The MATLAB project competition is assessed based on the presentation and exhibition (15 minutes including Q&A).
